2013 TAXES. The mil rate is 13.1. Tax bills were mailed in July. To view original 2013 real estate taxes, click here. Personal property tax amounts are here.
The "Circuitbreaker" program has been replaced by a refundable Property Tax Fairness Credit that can be claimed on one's 2013 Maine income tax return. For more info, click here. There are no 2012 rent/property tax refunds/forms.

FIREWORKS. Benton has no ordinance. State laws apply. In general, "consumers" may use fireworks between 9 AM and 10 PM with exceptions on/around July 4th and Dec 31st. To view the law, click here. Noise complaints should be directed to dispatch at 624-7076.

FOOD PANTRY. Benton uses the Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry, 12 Newhall St, Fairfield (Fairfield First Baptist Church). Hours are 1 PM to 3:30 PM the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Point of contact is Nancy Marcoux at 509-9972.
CLOTHING. The Lamb's Clothes Closet provides clothing, one bag per visit per person. Adult, child and baby clothes are available every Tuesday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For more info, click here.

April 19, Saturday. Spring Clean-Up Day, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Transfer Recycling Station in Clinton for Benton residents.
April 27, Sunday. Benton Alewife Festival Committee Meeting, 6:00-7:00 PM, Benton Town Office. Open to the public. Volunteers always needed.
May 12, Monday. Monthly Selectmen's Meeting, 6:00 PM, Benton Town Office.
May 13, Tuesday. Monthly Planning Board Meeting, 7:00 PM, Benton Town Office.
May 16, Friday. EATING WITH THE ALEWIVES. Dinner 5:00 to 6:30 PM followed by guest speakers Nate Gray, Jeff Pierce, Rick Lawrence and Doug Watts ... discussing everything and anything "Alewife".
Cost: $12.00 for one lobster, alewife chowder, smoked alewives, baked potato, vegetable and drinks. Tickets are available at the Town Office or tickets can be purchased by contacting Diane Hebert (453-2292). Please make checks payable to "Town of Benton." All proceeds go towards the Benton Alewife Festival.
