ANNUAL TOWN MEETING. 
The MINUTES for the March 12, 2016 TOWN MEETING are here. All Articles passed as written with the exception of Article 88, which was amended from a maximum of  $35 to $40 for library reimbursement. Article 93, Land Use Ordinance Amendment was defeated.

The Bridge on the Bog Road is limited to 3 tons until further notice.

TRANSFER STATION. 
The Clinton/Benton Transfer Station is 6.3 miles north of the Benton Town Office on the Bangor Rd-Rte 11 through the Town of Clinton towards Burnham on the right side of the road.  Open Wed-Thur-Fri-Sat, 7 AM to 5 PM.  RECYCLE.

 Personal property tax amounts are here.  Bills were mailed and are due now; interest begins accruing Sept 30th.  Payments are applied to oldest tax bill (if any past years are not paid). 

FIREWORKS.  Benton has no ordinance. State laws apply.  In general, "consumers" may use fireworks between 9 AM and 10 PM with exceptions on/around July 4th and Dec 31st.   To view the law, click here.   Noise complaints should be directed to dispatch at 624-7076.

VEHICLE EXCISE TAX EXEMPTION FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL.   The Commanding Officer's certification form for personnel stationed outside of Maine is here.  For personnel stationed in Maine, the CO's certification is here.

FOOD PANTRY.  Benton uses the Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry located at 23 Lawrence Ave., Fairfield (behind the Fairfield Town Office).

 Hours are 9 AM to Noon the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.  
Point of contact is Nancy Marcoux at 509-9972.   CLOTHING.  The Lamb's Clothes Closet provides clothing, one bag per visit per person.  Adult, child and baby clothes are available every Tuesday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.   For more info, click here.

 The Benton Planning Board meets at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of every month at the Benton Town Office.  The meeting is open to the public.  General concerns or questions will be handled by the Board.  However, anyone with business for the Planning Board including permits and conditional use applications should contact the Code Enforcement Officer, Adam Bradstreet 314-4126  to be put on the agenda for the meeting.  Requests to be on the agenda must be made at least 7 days prior to the meeting date.

         BENTON VETERANS MEMORIAL

 Any veteran who entered the service while living in Benton and served in a period of conflict is eligible for inclusion on the Memorial.   Anyone with names or information regarding veterans who qualify for inclusion on the Memorial should contact the Benton Park and Veterans Committee through the Town Office.
